Great song. Great solo too. I love how the bass drum kicks with the nps of the solo at certain points.
Seems like this song is about the person(s) or idea(s) you idolize in your life, and how they've failed, so in turn, you fail. You look up to this thing that has meant so much to you for so long and they just come crashing down unexpectedly. Or.. expectedly.
You ever see people who do things because other people do them? "They planned their life out this way and it's worked out for them so far, so I should do it, because I can't think for myself." Then they end up coming down hard.
People in Hollywood, movie stars, musicians, people look up to them, people idolize them. I always looked up to Layne Staley, because of his artistic sense. I remember him saying in an interview, saying how he didn't want his fans looking up to him as a role model for drugs, he wanted to be appreciated for his music. A lot of people looked at him and thought, "Oh, Layne Staley does all these drugs, lets be a cool rockstar like him and do them too." And his drugs finally became the end of him. This is how an idol fell [significance of 'anchors'].
I think this song just puts that message out there, "Think for yourself. Don't look up to other people, look up to yourself. You are the only you."
However, this is only what I think. I could be completely wrong. But, something to think about. :D
