ok, i'll take this song line by line and analyse it:
Have we lost the spark or a guide?
this first line is self explanatory: spark and guide mean the same thing- something on which you rely on when taking decisions. the absence of such thing points out how totally random life is.
What’s the latest on the screen?
while not finding a spark or a guide, the individual resorts to the tv (or computer- it depends) to find out what all those "specialists" are pointing out, and how would it be best to act, which not only doesn't explain anything, but also confuses the person even more.
Can’t be too late to turn around.
No matter what the situation, it is always never to late to turn around and take another road, and the another and so on...(with many compromises made, i might add)
I need all the help from you.
I think "you" in this case is more of a general addressing for help. It could mean society, it could mean friends, family etc.
I need to find something to blame for a long lost time (this line has been passed over in all comments above)
I think it tries to say that everyone needs to find a scapegoat on whom to blames his current situation
I’m running from something, I don’t know.
Again, this line expresses confusion- the individual runs from something he can't explain. this could be a reference to manipulation in society- you are made to bellieve things you don't fully understand (like support the war on terrorism for example, when you don't even know its cause- just an example, everyone is more or less subject to some manipulation)
I’m searching for something, which way to go?
Again, the person searches for something, feels the need of something that could make him feel better , but doesn't know what that something is.
I’m trying to separate what’s real.
This continues the struggle to escape confusion or manipulation. Trying to separate the good from the bad, the lies from the truth, in order to pick the right road in life...
I’m running in a wheel.
....but this leads nowhere and brings the individual back where he started.
Is it dark or is it bright?
A person can be so confused, he cannot tell if his situation is good or bad...
What’s the latest on the screen?
...and, again, tries to search the answer on tv.
Can you please tell me my name?
I haven’t checked it today.
these 2 lines suggest a personality crisis, the person not being able to find an identity in this society.
From green to red our days pass by
waiting for a sign to tell us why.
Are we dancing all alone?
Green and red mean life and death (like in video games- when the cursor is red, you are near death). So, everyone spends their entire life searching for a sign- an answer to the questions of existence- to tell them why (this part i can't really interpret right) they feel so alone, even if there are so many people with whom they share their lives with ? or perhaps "dancing all alone" means no one cares for each other and it's every man for himself.
Collect some stars to shine for you,
and start today cause there are only a few.
The sign of times my friend.
so, not being able to find the big sign, the individual retreats in small joys- the stars- that are very rare, and must beenjoyes at full.
Avoid infinity?
Are you for real?
i think it talks about avoiding all these questions and living your life like everything is perfect, when you are really drawning in shit (are you for real?)
Just scratch the surface,
and you will find,
something to blame for a long lost time.
"scratch the surface" could reffer to scratching the crystal globe- as a reference to superstition. everyone finds reasons and blames something for his situation, but not on a logical basis, and merely on guessing or superstition.
anyway, i think the basic idea of this song is inner struggle and confusion in today's shitty society, when it is very hard for the individual to find his own purpose in life.
