I think he's talking about belief and all it's difficult little concepts. Humans are narrow minded... everything MUST be proved to them. Everything MUST have a reason for happening.
Let me take the simple line: "Solar powered plastic plants ".
It is whimsical, really, to think of such a thing, right? And not only that, but the thing is kind of... pointless. Why a fake plant when a real plant is out there? Because humans MUST prove the process of a plant to believe it. Humans sort of tear down their mental environment this way. I remember, when I was very young, I used to think the world was full of magic- like plantlife. But then I went to school and learned about science, which proved that, no, it wasn't magic. It was science. Humans make it that way. They trap their faith into mindless belief in their own rules.
Another line, I find interesting: "Pretty pictures of things we ate."
Isn't it true that we buy that particular meal at the cafe because of it's pretty picture? That's what advertising is all about, right? But pictures are just another belief.
Yeah. I'll stop now. It's all in the song though. And I know it's been said before... but I just wanted to put my thought in.
