The Pooka Sings Lyrics

One of the most frustrating songs to sing along with, yet one of the most frustratingly, confusingly beautiful. The beginning? Suspenseful, wraithlike, substantially sparse. The middle benefits from a piano accompaniment that slowly crescendoes, then, fades, then comes back, like waves. Then, the album ends too soon.

One interview claims this song is a sort of "disclaimer" where Owen Pallett claims that all he has said has nothing to do with his personal beliefs, or something along these lines. The pooka's a magical Irish creature, a sort of shapeshifting creature of myth. Google the Wikipedia page.

The Pooka wings away His power o'er me's at an end And I put down the violin I leave it down, never again!
