I had a different take on this song, emo rock never even crossed my mind.
I pictured this as a girl who broke up with her boyfriend (because she's the "thoughtless beast"), and she possibly did it in an inappropriate place. And he's gone ahead and moved on ("christ you're already gone") when she isn't quite ready to let him go ("a month is no time at all...to erase you") and she's feeling bitter when she accuses him of being "emotional" when she first dumps him, but in reality, she's the one having a hard time moving on when she screams "it's so hard!"
I definitely think there's sincerity in this song, it can't all be about making fun of emo rockers XP
