I saw this song as atheistic. We, being humanity, have strayed too long on the shoulder's of giants, or Gods and religion.
There is emphasis on the word "strayed." Strayed implies that you're looking around, searching for something. What the Planet Smashers seem to be saying in my eyes is that religion offers nothing. We truly can't find any solace in religion, but only humanities' own accomplishments. This is supported with the lines:
"Sentiment points to faith and a reason to believe
Rest assured without detail, we follow never lead"
Humanity is naturally immature and cannot fathom life without an afterlife and an all knowing creator. We never put faith in humanity, but rather fictional Gods.

That's just my two cents.
