This song is clearly Maynard speaking of his personal beliefs, but in the tone of a preacher... its obviously NOT one of his many "tonge-in-cheek" religion bashs.
-hes talking about a female god
-"there is no devil to cause guilt"
-and my favorite part..."the ignorant, the blinded by dogma, blinded by faith, the doubters, the nay sayers.
Tell them all, child, they can not see the kingdom of god"
listen to the lyrics, i think you guys will agree with me
@Leftist46and2 Agreed (for the most part, although I'm not sure about the female god part. I just see it as the nebulous One Infinite Creator, and I think he may as well).

You just gotta take this song at face value. He speaks in the tone of a crazy preacher like a lot of his other songs, but instead of satire, this song is inspirational and instructional. He's espousing his beliefs, whether or not you agree with them. I personally think they're the perfect guide to dealing with these times, and have become even more relevant.
