The Story Lyrics

Lyric discussion by forgotten way

Cover art for The Story lyrics by Limp Bizkit

This song is about how fame can often lead to your downfall, (take a man down with his own glory) and that hollywood, fame etc. is not as great as it seems

"glorified and embraced by your victory when you're done, you escape that memory"

When you're on top, you have the highest popularity, legion of fans and you're all over tv, but that popularity decreases, the fans move on, and you never get any time because of other, bigger stars.

"blindfolded through this life as we learn and consequence when the wrong page is turned"

You are blind to the fact that fame will soon fuck up your life, as your too busy enjoying the spotlight during your 15 minutes of fame, however make one wrong move, people will change their opinion and move on to the next best thing.

"at some point we come down from the highs and so be it, we move on with our lives"

Acceptance that your 15 minutes of fame are up

"if life is just a fantasy life then could you live this fantasy life? If so, then would you?"

He is asking if you could really take this brillaint lifestyle despite the horrific outcome.

"just remember that the doors are not closeable and your motherfucking heroes are disposable"

Saying once you go in, there's no coming back, plus you're hereoes are soon to end up fucked over because of this lifestyle everyone wants

"let's talk about the hardcore that ain't hard anymore or the shit talkers who ain't shit anymore or the old fighters that can't fight anymore or the white kids who ain't white any more or the actors that don't act anymore or the rappers that don't rap anymore or the hipsters that don't hip anymore or the limpsters that can't limp anymore"

About how the fans will abandon you in a heartbeat because of a new trend. Some really great lyrics in this song!
