... at first i thought that this song was about someone decieving themselves and that if that person continues to believe that they are in love then they will just end up being really lonely because there is really nothing there but now i'm starting to wonder if maybe it's a message to the fans or something, like davey saying that too many people are convinced that his songs are just for them and that he's singing just to them in the crowd and that is clearly not the case, so he's saying that some fans need to let go and realise that he isn't really singing just to/for them, which is sort of the same concept only on a larger scale really... but i could be wrong, that's just how i'm interpreting it...
