To me, this song is about a guy who loves a girl...and now she's out of his life and doing OK on her own. The guy just wishes he wasn't in soo much pain and just wants to feel good again. I'm sure Peter Murphy wrote this with something else in mind...but I take the lyrics exactly how they are written. This song also brings a pool of tears to my eyes. I go through a lot of emotional times and I've suffered a lot of rejection from women...so this song hits a little too close to home.
