I think it might have something to do with some sort of oppertunity that has been presented to you but that has burned you in the past (a girl, job, or something else that requires you investing a lot of your money/trust/heart/etc). You think this one might be the one, but you are afraid of putting yourself on the line because you have been burned in the past when you have put yourself out on the line. this "oppertunity" is something that you really badly want and need, and you're looking for a sign that this time it is the one you've been waiting for.
