i can't believe how good the whole album is, i thought at first they were just going to be another generic " indie" band, but songs like this prove that they have great song writing skills, both lyrically and musically. i think this song is about a guy ( and from the sounds of it its an experience the lead singer has had) who really likes a girl who was either friends with a girl he really liked or his girlfriend, and they have now drifted apart, due to the singers percieved boringness and is just accepting that he is losing her even though he still likes her, and is basically giving up on it. just an amazing band with great lyrics in their music
