Material wealth means success to rich people. This has replaced heaven as most people's ultimate goal... or maybe it's a way to achieve that goal, too.

"Cover this wind like he was an angel," Wind could mean mortality... as long as your material wealth is around to be an extension of yourself mortality doesn't mean shit to you. Old mustangs = transportation, boxes for tops = cars. Cover our belongings when we're dead... they somehow are part of us, so they should be put away.
