That's an interesting thought and I'd never thought about it from that perspective.
For me, I feel like the song really is what the politicalscratch and mealroint said. It seems about the constant disguise which everyone is in. Everyone has to "measure up" and conform with society so as not to be viewed as an outcast. We're always adapting and changing who we truly are for other people just to get by in life.
