This is a tough one to interpret for me, but the tone definitely changes when he says "death we know...etc" because of the keyboard chimes in the background and he switches from "me" to "you". Here's my take on that: the song starts out with "arms raised" and "you are there" meaning the speaker has a significant other but he doesn't think about her as being important. The speaker contrasts his own 'self-endearment' with the things he mentions, like achievement, having a significant other, and love. Then the song switches into a more dream-like tone with more intensity from the bells/chimes. At the end the speaker starts talking about 'death' which 'comes to all of us alive,' leading me to believe that the speaker loses a significant other and this event makes him realize his own mortality. I think the speaker is going through the process of becoming aware of the process of dying after he loses someone close to him and the person he loses would otherwise be there to console him and tell him that it's okay because "death comes to all of us alive". The speaker understands the concept, but wishes he could have been more aware of the significance of life, whatever that may be.

Kinda confusing, but maybe you'll see what's going through my mind!
