But i guess it doesnt need to be a relationship, i dont like the thought that nearly every lyric has to deal with relationships, love and so on.
I guess the narrator lives in a situation that he/she doesnt like (so it CAN be the relationship) and there is something new which can cheers up him or her. in order to get "something new" he/she has to give up on familiar surroundings..
