I don't think he means he's "lived it up" I think he means he's tried to attain answers for himself and achieve some sort of wisdom. and how he feels he's accomplished that but now, it isn't enough for him to be wise. He needs to teach OTHERS what he has learned or otherwise, what will the point have been in achieving wisdom? Especially when it leaves you feeling that there's something that needs to be done about the ignorance of others?
