Sounds like when someone has a problem(drugs, drinking, etc) and is hitting bottom. When you get that feeling that no one cares or even notices you. People with addiction problems begin to lie to get by and it's so easy to believe them because you never had any reason to doubt them in the past.
I like the interlude part of the song where everything is a dream and the exact opposite of this reality.
