i think it has something to do with being abused as a child when it talks about blaming his parents. then going into a depression "i turned the page to the chapter they all thought was just a phase but it consumed me" or possibly dealing with the depression with drugs or cutting or something of that matter. the consiously unconsious part reminds me of feeling like your alive but numb to everything around you.
