I figured out the lyrics by ear, so please forgive me for any mistakes I might have made. Some lines were difficult to figure out, so I just wrote down what I thought Daniel was singing and what made some sense as well. If any of you was able to get the right lyrics where I wasn't, please leave a comment.

As for the meaning of the song, Daniel is being quite optimistic ("I can see colours at night"). I think the song is also about his insomnia ("Since I've been running tired") and how he is staying strong and remaining positive ("Kept my head up, sunshine, today will be fine"). I think with the line "It's defeat who changes hands", Daniel means that in the past he's been defeated by his diseases (anorexia, reactive arthritis), but now he is fighting off insomnia.

The last part of the song (after Judith Durham's bit) I find somewhat harder to figure out. But maybe it's about Daniel and Natalie being away from each other so much. He doesn't like the distance-thing.

Well, that's my take on it. Does anyone else have any ideas?
