This one's kind of hard to figure out....I think it's simply about someone who has decided to become a follower of some sort of entity or cult. They've become a slave to some being through "hearing their call" and they begin a quest of some sort to be one with that being.
They throw out all that they once believed and sacrifice everything for this one individual who has a lot of power.
They consider themselves below this being and their "final test lies just ahead". They are chosen to die. They are guided to this being through this being and are fully aware of what they are doing and why. It's all simply about dying for something.
