I think that this song is about God(Obviously), and how he is bearing his cross for Christ even when countless others claim to be Christian and they dont practice what they preach.. Along those lines..

When you become a believer, you are taking a huge leap of faith and you become brave in what you believe, Because people are going to persecute you for believe in Jesus..
