i thought this song was about a long-distance relationship since the first time i heard it.
the first verse is about the absence on a physical relationship ("cursed with a love that you can't express,
it's not for a fuck, or a kiss").
and obviously, the phone-call has to do with distance ("this call costs a fortune and it's late where you live").
waking up lonely and seeing the person with her both have to do with missing somebody. that's my take on it.
p.s. i think it's okay for people to have DIFFERENT interpretations whether they are 'correct' or 'incorrect,' perception is a wonderful thing :).
