Something happened to her, the way I think of it is maybe she was shot or something on that crowed street in may, she survived , but she'll never be the same (maybe paralyzed or maybe just emotionally). Either way she's in denial and he feels like she's become a burden. I like the part where he says "I say I'm still in love, but I'm a liar".
