Currently my favorite Stars track. I have to disagree with Bluemask simply because the chorus states he "couldn't make her see" and that he wasn't the man she thought he'd be. So that obviously refers to the idea that she was the one that left him.
The child asks why he was born probably out of spite, living a life with divorced parents isn't every childs dream.
I think Amy's closing comments refers to her Ex's current state of barreness; like she's a bit sympathetic to the desolate life he lives.
