Yes, you're all right. This song is very depressing (just as virtually any other Seether song). However, I would like to show you something different. Don't you think that the chorus is actually quite optimistic? At least I've always seen it as full of hope and determination:

It I can get over all the bad things and not let them affect me any more, then I will be able to get on with this life.
And can anyone else do it for me? No, I have to do it myself.
I haven't figured out the second part of the chorus to fit this interpretation but still this is the way I've always looked at the song. And the quoted lines are so optimistic that they make up for all the negativity Seether can force into their lyrics.
