"I used to know a kid who wore his heart on his sleeve A tattoo of the word "Sincerity" In these days it don't mean a thing to want to mean anything"

As well as summing up the song pretty nicely, I feel these lines are a good description of Amy's approach to songwriting.

The first stanza is is a sardonic observation of the hypocrisies of people (a "buddha" betraying the fundamental teachings of Buddha in several ways). The whole song has a bitter feel to it about things like this, but the central message is that there are two people "stranded" in a sea of hypocrisy and insincerity who reject this way of life. Having found each other, it's good enough to just be in each other's arms and ignore the petty concerns of the masses. In this way, it is the rest of the world that is stranded.

Also, when Amy sings "It's good to be in your arms", I get goosebumps. Beautiful.
