The previous post is really not true. The Sons of Feanor were the ones who pursued the Silmarils and attempted revenge on Morgoth. The House of Fingolfin followed in order to seek out new lands and kingdoms in Middle Earth and resented the House of Feanor for their oath and actions leading to the Noldor's arrival in ME.
