The song is basically confronting the idea that romantic love (at least, according to Hollywood's standards of it) has replaced religion as the opiate of the masses in the 20th century. They don't think that there's anything wrong with love, but that it shouldn't be so shrouded in mystery/myth... because that's all Hollywood's premonitions of romantic love have ever been, myth.
