This is an amazing song. I think that he's singing about how these days its so easy to become a z-list celeb and be in the magazines all the time:

Programs like big brother are really responsible for this sort of thing, and I think thats what he is paying testament to, and the fact that he believes his life would be so much better if he was famous.
