I think this song is about a long lost penpal..obviously.. and this old man really hated his life so he did whatever it took to feel young again. After about ten years he felt horrible so wrote her again saying he was sorry and he was lying that whole time. He was having such a better time thinking of his penpal and she made him feel so much better so he felt attachted to her. Afterwards he really wanted her to get to know who her really was so they could truly get to know eachother again.
