my buddy and i saw ted & the pharmacists at the h.o.b. in new orleans. prior to him going on, lots of old reggae, trojan and studio one stuff was playing over the speakers, and i knew this would be an excellent night. not familiar with his newer stuff, hearing a distinctly reggae/early ska beat with that guitar strumming, you should have seen the dumb smile on my face. ted leo's falsetto in this song did desmond dekker proud. do you hear the melodica? damn. ignore the lyrics. i know that's what this site's about, lyrics, and what they mean to the individual, but the approach to this song melodically makes me so glad to call ted leo & the pharmacists one of my favorite bands.
