I like how she sings this version - like a ghost. It brings up imagery of shipwrecks and gray, yucky days on the coast. It's perfect.

Now I picture the part where she says "Pale as a pile of bones..." and "wind-battered, kocked over, the teeth BY the shoulder" I pictured this crumpled pile of bones, literally! Skull turned gently, the teeth BY the shoulder. Spooooky.

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard "Lighthouse Museum" in there. I was driving one day and it just came to me clearly. I may still be nuts!

It's a place! There are a lot of "Eastern Shores." I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I like to think she passed through here at some point, the song sounds like this place to me.
