I can't believe no one has commented yet. I love this song. To me it's about how our world today is not at all the future that our predecessors dreamed of. Rather than the "brave new world" of exciting technology, happiness, etc., we prefer to distract and entertain ourselves. Here they use the metaphor of oblivious dancing, not realizing that hope for civilization is slipping away. ("The lights are fading out before our eyes, We lose each other as we celebrate the beat.")
