it's definitely about like young or immature love. like, the ring that turned his finger green was probably bought from one of those 25 cent machines you see at the exit in supermarkets and stuff.
Yeah, that's what I thought. This song gets to me lately.

amantillado! at the top of your lungs
i can't hear you anymore
amantillado! at the top of your lungs
i can't hear you anymore
so take your diamond bland shaped tears
and maybe i'll see you in twenty years
and i will always wear your ring
you know the one
that turned my finger green
so take your diamond bland shaped tears
and maybe i'll see you in twenty years
and i will always wear your ring
you know the one

Those lines. I met a girl who had moved to my town recently (from Texas, of all irony...). I stayed w/ her over the holidays/winter break due to lack of anywhere else to go at that point and some big issues I was having (and still am really), basically pushing myself on her at a point when she had only been in this city for about a month or so, and then I pretty much let my dumbass fall in love with her. She didn't feel the same way unfortunately and once I told her how I did feel, got the rejection thing, acted like an asshole, and then reluctantly apologized after I realized how much I fucked up a decent compromise, if anything, as she would've been a great friend (and hopefully someday maybe she will be...)... the whole process kind of damnpened our friendship it would seem, as we've barely spoke since and I haven't seen her in person since the day I left her apartment.
I gave her a mood ring I had gotten out of one of those 20cent machines when I was like 7 (I'm in my 20s now...) the very night I got there- she was one of those girls who has every single type of odd-ball jewelry piece you can think of, from gun-earrings to little 8-balls. Cool chick, I really miss her.
