People ignore the pain of other people until it's too late; this could be fixed if we paid attention, and realized that it's okay to cry and mourn because we're never alone no matter how cold the world seems.
I absolutely, absolutely, ABSOLUTELY (no album pun intended) love the lines
"And the fat kid at school- couldn't take anymore,
All the taunts and the names and the ugliest words,
No-one even stopped to notice, they went on with their day
'Till he pulled out a gun and blew himself away..."
We are ASSHOLES, in general, until it's far too late to realize what we've done-- in this case, until somebody is dead thanks to people not caring-- in fact, not only not caring, but attacking him and ignoring his pain until there's a bullet through his head.
It's such an insanely sad song, but it's doubtlessly one of my favorites on the album and by the band in general.
Agreement with all above comments, really.
