This song is so amazing, I don't understand how he says so many things with such grace.
Basically I think that this is a song about a guy that "just gave up" with a girl for reasons he can't justify anymore. The first part I think he's at a party or something that reminds him of her, like when they used to go out to parties and drink wine together, but now it weighs him down from all the memories because she's got someone new in her life to do what he couldn't do for her at the time.
He still sees her in his dreams, everything is perfect there but when he wakes up he sees the reality of what he's done, because she's not there anymore because she's "moved on".
He's asking her to surrender everything and tear down the walls they've built up around themselves and trust in the love that they had together, because that's what's gonna get them through it again.
Man, I love the part:
"So sorry that you've gone away/
You're a little bit right/
more than a little bit right/
with my arms around you"
He sees that everything that he thought was right is now wrong without her...words so incredibly perfect.
The questionable part is "break wide"
