I agree with plat- everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and THATS what America is really about. As sad as the story is, if any US citizen signs to join the army, thats like signing your life over to them. I completely agree that its rediculous to hold somebody and make them fight even if the reason they joined for (to find/destroy WMDS in Iraq) didnt exist, but if somebody signs up for the army, its not just for one objective or one war, its for as long as you are contracted, regardless of the situation. If we decided today to invade Mongolia (randomest place i could think of) then sadly every one of our soldiers would have responsibility to be over there...
One of the things that makes our country great is its morals. We try to do the right thing. If we decided to invade Mongolia, I would hope every one of our soldiers would decide to become a concientious objector, because to do so would be evil. If our country became like Hitler's Germany, should soldiers slaughter innocents just because they're ordered to?
