I was raised Pental Coastal. So I'm pretty much brought up as a Christian. Although I lean towards agnostic more so.

So many religions could relate this song to theirs.
Not just christianity.
Eagles have played huge roles in many different religions.
All the way down to Ancient Greece.
Flying as well. Especially in Ancient times. In the age of "If men were meant to fly they'd be born with wings"
Anything that flew was symbolic of a higher power. Birds would play a huge role in symbolism.
An eagle flying with a snake in its beak would symbolize a warning.
Not saying that this song isn't referring to christianity, but that it seems rather ambiguous to tell.
And that many things could relate to this song.
Many religions, and even outside of religion just plain people wanting to acheive greater things.
Hell even the Wright Brothers could relate to this song if they were alive. :]
