It's taken me a few years but now I've finally realized how KISS is totally amazing. Although cowbellplz would even have to admit Gene Simmons is slightly more than "just a little but of a sell out" - he wrote the fucking book on it!
KISS aren't my favourite band, but their up there, and i only like 20 or so of their songs and have only heard a few more, so im not the most qualified person to comment, but I think KISS are in a class of their own when it comes to good old fashioned rock n roll, singing about partying, drinking alcohol, and beautiful women. and they do it extremely well, has anyone seen them live? they are absolutely awesome, fair enough gene is a bit of a sell-out, i'd call him a marketing genious, he has sold KISS's name so...

I don't think it's possible for someone to claim that any member of Kiss has "sold out" since the band was based off of marketing from day one. Don't get me wrong. I love Kiss. I've been a fan since I was 4 years old, and I'm not 36 years old. Sorry, the band formed not for any artistic expression, but to get woman, money and fame. Paul and Gene have expressed this in a multitude of interviews. That being said, how can you call the man a sell out?

Because people are so blinded by the theory that if any rock star acts rich, and flaunts the millions if dollars which they all have, the he has no 'integrity', and is a sell-out.
Kurt Cobain wrestled with this issue in his mind from the very moment he became rich. One story goes that he went to a Seattle Lexus dealership, and said, fuck it, I'm rich, I should be driving a car that reflects that fact. I've worked hard for what I have.
When he drive in the driveway, with his fancy new ride, Courtney Love flipped out, calling him a...

So he returned it.
This moment lived on in his twisted psyche however, and is accredited as one of the many factors and events which lead to his unfortunate suicide.
