What this song means to me...I think it could be from one friend to another but my view is as if Jesus is talking to him. When He looks into his eyes He sees alot of hate built up. He is pushing Jesus away because of past hurts and feeling down like it won't get better...Thus he throws it all away again. Jesus wants him to find the place deep within his soul that isn't altered by sin and the ways of this world...his inner child, see Matthew 18:03. There is more to this life than he sees if only he would open up his eyes and see the truth but no one can force him to do so he has to want it. Deep inside his mind he's "forced" to think nothing will change..The devil is getting to him and filling his head with lies. So Jesus takes him by the hand and leads him and guides him.
