The way I imagine it it's like, he's sitting on the beach at night with this girl who he's in love with, watching the ocean, and it all seems so surreal that it's making him struggle with the line between reality and imagination.
They're sitting next to each other and they're not speaking, but he's thinking about her. Maybe she doesn't know how he feels, I'm not sure.
Also I think that maybe they're going to be seperated in the near future, so he's saying that they need to live in the moment because it will never come again, kind of thing. I think he'll miss her.
