I like that they use the word "chores"
Kind of reminds me of all the chores we had to do as kids. And how adult jobs are just a continuation of that.
the word "Chores" also has a negative connotation. No one really likes doing chores. Likewise, we don't always like our daytime jobs, but we take on the responsibility, and do our part to keep the economy flowing.
I think it's a very humble song too.
"I only want the time to do one thing that I like."
He's willing to give up almost all of his time doing these chores if he can just have a little time to himself to get stoned and go for a walk alone. Fucking beautiful.
While the lyric is definately "stoned," I don't the song is trying to glorify drugs. The lyric "when there's no one watching" implies that he just wants to be alone and at peace, not start a fucking riot or a party.
So basically, if you're a contributing member of society, and you're not trying to stir up trouble, you should be allowed to do what you want (whether it's getting stoned or going sailing).
