I love the line 'i think that you may be the one' he sings it with so much conviction I feel a little shudder.
I like to think he's assuring himself over the girls feelings for him, finally knowing that she is in love with him "Everything she ever does is for you" They've had a rocky relationship and seperately she's had a difficult past:
"wear that dress to protect the scar that only i have seen"
"do you wish you were somewhere else"
"were you burned by the things i said?"
"i will listen to your pain"
To me the lyrics read that they often fight and don't know each other as well as they need to get along clearly. In their last argument the things he said were explosive "Have you learned all the secrets yet?
Were you burned by the things I said?
Took the dive just to feel alive..."
Possibley meaning that he shouted hurtful things in the spur of the moment
"....But never heard the truth"
But never shouted the most important thing that he hates her for: he's fallen in love with her and he doesn't know how or why, and as she sleeps later on that night he has this revelation, simultaneously realising that she loves him too ("i slowly open mine")
Being confused over how, why and why he can't have her now, he figures that if their relationship can't be salvaged quickly the sometimes unavoidable will happen "The story of a broken heart [could come] true". So he invites her to talk things out so they can fix their problems ("Be near, just for a moment Stay near, never go home")
He tells her all he has come to find, and despite their arguing and their pasts, the "days have stung by too much sun", he loves her and wants them both to forget their anger, love each other and share everything.
What a beautiful story.
Did you know
That everything she ever does is for you
So it goes
That the story of a broken heart comes true
It comes true
This is a brillian song! Shamefully no comments. Here's a link to the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDpORqCZXTQ&mode=related&search=
