I have it from a friend of mine who knows Aaron Sprinkle that this song was written about/for his friend David Bazaan, ie. Pedro the Lion. I don't know if Pedro is religious (I thought so, but I'm not sure), but the lyrics seem to me to be about Aaron wishing the subject of the song to just "give in" and stop wishing they could change the world, perhaps that he wishes they could "give in" to religion?
