I don't think it's necessarily saying you shouldn't leave someone. Leaving someone is inevitable. I feel like this song is about the first time you ever fall in love with someone in particular. "I'll never fall like that again." Yeah you'll fall in love again, but it'll never be the same as that first time.
Also, names and dates and faces, places you were happy-- it's like when you go back to places that you went with them you'll always be reminded of them. And certain dates will have the same effect too.
