An amazing song! I don't understand why it didn't make one of the regular albums instead of the 100,000 Fans Can't be Wrong boxed set. Jon and/or Richie must have known someone who went through this or lost a loved one themselves because it really captures the horror and sadness of watching someone you love dying in the hospital. Especially the part about the four elevators, one goes to "that" floor. Truly remarkable writing and Jon sings it beautifully.
