I totally agree with the suicide idea of the song. I mean, once I started listening to it, I came to the same conclusion.
What gave it away for me though was the "hanging on a warning." I then started listening closely to the rest of the lyrics and it all lead to suicide.
I agree it has to do something with a couple. Let's say for the man's perspective. I see it more as, he loved her, but something went wrong and he found out she didnt love him. The "pretending" can be seen as she was cheating on him.
Good thinking mrm! I was questioning that part, but that could make sense about the whole team thing.
Then there's the whole "breakdown is awaking" then "breakdown is erasing" part. I think here, he finds out and is 'awakened' by this knowledge. Then though, the knowledge 'erases' him.
The whole joke thing is obviously to get back at someone who hurt him. In the end though, the "joke" is actually a very serious suicide.
Or, here's where I differ, I think he could have possibly gone another route.
The whole "big escape" verse leads me to think that maybe, he did turn back and didnt kill himself. But, in his mind he plays out the scene and the "joke" he played.
Yes. The lyrics are "unhappy ending."
