I can't believe no one has commented. Willy mason is so very underrated, let me tell you.
This little tune is decpetively simple. Somtimes I think this song is just about someone who's too 'lazy' to conform and act like everyone else, and then 'they put me on drugs' so he could be like everyone else. And it's just not sane.
But most of the time, when I'm not feeling all philosophical, I think this song is about how the mental health services are not sane themselves; locking someone in a room, putting you on drugs...a lot of people who just need to talk on drugs; that really isn't sane.
