I've been trying to decipher the song for the past 2 hours and I think its about internal conflict that the singer is experiencing. It's about letting a relationship go despite how much you want to be with your partner. There must have been alot of trouble keeping the relationship together for whatever reason. In addition to that, the singer is also giving in and giving up because his partner feels the same way about letting the relationship go for the better.
